How long have you had Tourette Syndrome? I was diagnosed when I was in the 5th grade, and I’m in the 9th grade currently.
What kinds of symptoms do you have? Punching, eye twitching, grunting, sniffing, and pseudo seizures
What is life like for you living with Tourette Syndrome? At first it was fine, but lately I haven’t been able to hang out with my friends because of it. However, that gives me time for things that are meaningful.
What advice can you give other kids who are newly diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome? While Tourette syndrome can be very hard to live with, it is a major part of you. Don’t be in denial; Tourette’s is a gift. It makes you unique. Normal is boring.
What is the hardest thing about living with Tourette Syndrome? Sometimes I miss school because of all the pseudo seizures, and I can’t do some fun things with my friends, but I learn to get over it.
What do you think other people should know about Tourette Syndrome? Tourette’s is not just shouting obscenities. It’s more than that. If you think Tourette’s is just that, then you need to be educated.
What are your strengths and what do you like to do? I am very good at video game and software development, and I also love riding my bicycle and playing video games. I also am known to be very good at teaching, due to helping in Childrens Church a lot.
What are your goals in life? I want to own a software development company. I already made a social network for people with Tourette’s. It’s called The Tic Connection ( http://theticconnection.weebly.com/ I want to help other ticcers.
