[dropcap]F[/dropcap]rom May 15 through June 15, 2010 the Brad Cohen Tourette Foundation hosted a series of discussions featuring special guests who talked about their experiences with Tourette syndrome and the advice they’d give from their own unique perspectives. Hosted by Brad Cohen himself, the series invited individuals to call-in and listen to live interviews and email questions for each special guest.
Guests included Ellen, Brad’s mom, who was portrayed by Patricia Heaton in the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Front of the Class. Ellen talked about her search for a diagnosis for Brad and how she supported him through his challenges to ultimately become that award-winning teacher.
On May 25th, Brad sat down with James Wolk, actor and BCTF Board Member as they reminisced about the filming of Front of the Class. James talked about his experiences portraying Brad and what brining his important message to millions of people on this CBS special meant to him.
On June 3, Sheryl Pruitt, M.ED., ET/P, member of the BCTF advisory board and co-author of books on TS and associated disorders discussed with Brad the difficulties that TS pose to children as they navigate their lives in the classroom and in society.
And on June 12, Brad and author Dylan Peters discussed Dylan’s book that he wrote when he was nine. Dylan spoke eloquently about his life with TS and how kids can achieve their dreams.
The Brad Cohen Tourette Foundation will sponsor more events like this in the future months to provide useful information for those affected by TS and the families and friends who care for them!
